🎓 Academic Excellence at SZABUL Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL), Karachi, takes pride in sharing that Dr. Syed Khurram Mehdi, Chairman, Department of Criminology, has won the Best Paper Award at the 3rd International Conference on Media and Social Development (ICMSD 2025), held under the umbrella of the SMIU Global Research Congress 2025. The SMIU Global Research Congress 2025 was successfully hosted by Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Karachi, serving as a major international academic forum promoting interdisciplinary research, innovation, and sustainability. The ICMSD 2025 was jointly organized by the Department of Social and Development Studies and the Department of Media and Communication Studies, SMIU, and took place on December 17–18, 2025, at the SMIU campus. The conference brought together scholars and researchers from diverse disciplines to deliberate on contemporary social and media-related challenges. Dr. Mehdi received the award for his outstanding research paper titled “Effect of Televised Violence on Youth Crime Propensity in Karachi: A Quantitative Analysis.” The study was recognized for its strong empirical foundation and its relevance in examining the impact of media exposure on youth behavior and crime-related tendencies. Congratulating the award recipient, Justice (R) Kusar Sultana Hussain, Vice Chancellor, SZABUL, stated that this achievement is a matter of great pride for the university and reflects the intellectual rigor, research culture, and academic commitment being fostered at SZABUL. She emphasized that such accomplishments enhance the university’s academic standing and contribute meaningfully to evidence-based policy discourse, informed public debate, and societal development.
